About this project

Zero Waste Brunei was set up in 2019, spearheaded by Big BWN Project, a multi-award winning local community organization specializing in youth and community development, entrepreneurship and environmental awareness projects in Brunei Darussalam. Through Zero Waste Brunei, we have successfully launched and initiated various national campaigns around the country with the aim to encourage the public to Refuse, Reuse, Reduce and Recyle and be mindful of waste from going into the landfills, with a huge concentration on eliminating single-use plastics. The most recent national campaign was in conjunction with the International Plastic Free July initiative, where over 40 local restaurants and companies participated to eliminate single-use plastics from their organizations. Zero Waste Brunei has successfully hosted multiple beach cleanups, community campaigns, events and workshops in public schools and corporate offices. Zero Waste Brunei is also widely supported by local agencies and government for its wide projects.
